LONG DISTANCE TRIATHLON TRAINING DAY
Saturday 12th June. This is a long distance training day focused on those looking to race an Ironman or middle distance race in 2021. This event will be of interest to anyone who is looking to either complete a first race, improve or target an age group podium. The day will be led by a team of Total Tri Training coaches who have extensive 70.3 and IM race experience and multiple world championship and podium finishes between them. You will leave this day knowing you have the confidence to complete your race whether it be to complete or compete.
The day includes:
• Ironman Specific Open water swim session
• Long distance bike session, focusing on the fundamental elements of the ironman bike split, pace control, power and fuelling.
• Ironman specific run session that will help you understand or enhance your ability to run well when tired.
• In addition there will be a coaches Q and A incorporating subjects from nutrition, pacing and how to prepare for your event for your best race yet.

Maintaining hydration is one of the most important strategies for triathletes to maximise performance when it matters most. Dehydration should be avoided by consuming regular amounts of water and electrolytes, primarily sodium, to replace what is lost through sweat. Total sweat and sodium losses can vary massively within and among athletes, ranging from 0.5-3L of sweat which contains anywhere from 500mg to >2000mg of sodium per hour! Sodium plays a key role in regulating fluid balance and muscle contractile function, so if you’re not replacing your sodium losses with the right amount of fluid, you’re simply not going to perform at your best on race day!
This is where we can take all that guesswork away and take your performance to the next level.
At the Farm Club our partnered Performance Nutritionist, Danny Webber, offers sweat patch testing to inform you of exactly how much sweat and sodium you are losing during training, providing you with personalised hydration strategies to maximise your performance on race day.
During the sweat test, you will exercise on a bike or treadmill wearing small patches which will collect your sweat to be analysed for its sodium content. This will be calculated with your whole-body sweat loss to measure your hourly sodium sweat loss rates, to give you a plan of what and when you need to drink during training and competition.
SPORTS PERFORMANCE BREATHWORK WORKSHOP
A 2 hour sport performance breathwork workshop (10:30am till 12:30pm) at The Farm Club, Mere View Farm, Park Lane, Pickmere, Cheshire giving an insight into how changing the way we breathe can improve your sport and exercise performance.
During the workshop you’ll be taught and coached through the research proven breathing techniques of the Oxygen Advantage®️ to improve; Biomechanics of how you breathe, Biochemistry of how your body utilises oxygen and carbon dioxide, Using the breath to control our autonomic nervous system and therefore things like our stress repsonse, anxiety and recovery (including sleep), How breath-holding can be used to improve your red blood cell count, percentage of haemaglobin and natural levels of EPO, Altitude training techniques to Improve lactate buffering capacity of the muscles, VO2 max and increased recovery.
The workshop will be a mixture of theory and practical with plenty of opportunity for you to feel the immediate impact of these breathing techniques and time to ask questions throughout.
